The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta's Newton Fund was established in January of 2000 to help individuals, corporations and foundations respond to the charitable needs of Newton County residents. In partnership with neighboring Morgan County, the Newton Fund works to foster and promote local philanthropy.

Serving as a pool of charitable funds, the Newton Fund offers ease, convenience and expertise for donors who wish to make charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations in and around Newton County. Through a variety of funds and options, we help donors leave a legacy that can benefit our community for generations to come.

The Newton Fund offers donors tax advantages, expert investing, anonymity (if desired) and a thorough understanding of Newton County’s nonprofit community.

Our goals include:

  • promoting visionary philanthropy
  • building and preserving a collection of endowment funds and
  • distributing funds to nonprofit organizations that serve Newton County residents.

What programs do we support?

Through generous contributions from local donors as well as matching dollars from The Community Foundation, the Newton Fund offers a competitive grants program that is available to Newton-based nonprofit, 501(c)3, agencies. Annual grants from this program are awarded via a competitive process to help qualified Newton nonprofit organizations meet the changing needs of the Newton County community. The deadline for 2007 has passed. The next grant cycle is October 2008, and the application and guidelines will be posted in spring 2008.

Grants awarded from these funds support organizations working in the following areas:

  • Arts
  • Civic Affairs
