Some donors to The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta choose to give unrestricted gifts. The earnings from these gifts are distributed through the Common Good Funds (formerly competitive grants program) designed to help nonprofit organizations meet the changing needs of the greater Atlanta area.
****Announcement****
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta is postponing the rest of our 2008 grant cycles to focus internally on the strategies and approaches we use to make an impact in our community. The postponed grant cycle affects the Common Good Funds (formerly competitive grants program), the Neighborhood Fund, the Atlanta AIDS Partnership Fund, the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund's Toolbox Award, technical assistance and Extra Wish.
Please note that Grants to Green, the Arts Loan Fund and the Local Funds will continue with funding.
We have had a very successful past six months where we have granted more than $700,000 through the AIDS Fund, more than $55,000 through the Neighborhood Fund, more than $500,000 through the Arts Fund and expect an unprecedented Common Good Funds grant cycle in June with an estimated $1,000,000. In addition, the money from our summer grant cycles will be carried over to 2009 so the same investment amount is still allocated to the community.
The Community Foundation will be engaging donors, nonprofit partners and civic and thought leaders throughout our planning process so we are hearing community-wide input. We will be updating our nonprofit partners about our progression and will share the results of the planning process in late 2008. Please visit our Frequently
Asked Questions page to learn more. We expect to add to these questions throughout the process, so please send any additional questions to ourimpact@atlcf.org.
