Merrill Lynch recently launched the Merrill Lynch Community Charitable Fund, MLCCF, a unique donor advised fund service that for the first time links a major financial services firm with a nationwide network of community foundations. The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has joined other leading community foundations in this partnership. The Community Foundation played a key role in bringing the Merrill Lynch service to fruition with Alicia Philipp, President of TCF, serving as chair of the initiative.

With the MLCCF, clients can donate cash, stock, or other financial assets to their local community foundation. They can then recommend how those assets are distributed over time. The service also includes a sophisticated investment management component, in which financial advisors will work with clients to help them recommend investments from a selection of internationally recognized managers.
